The developers of the Broadshore, Sinclair and Scaraben Offshore Wind Farms, collectively known as the Broadshore Hub, are inviting communities to public consultation events on 26th and 27th November 2024.
The Broadshore Hub will be located 47 km north of Fraserburgh, with a combined capacity of up to 1.1 GW (gigawatts) of renewable electricity. Power from the offshore wind farms will be transmitted onshore via underground cabling and connected to the National Electricity Transmission System at the new Netherton Hub (west of Peterhead).
The onshore site selection process has identified five potential substation locations within a 5 km radius of the Netherton Hub and given the early stage of development, this is an excellent opportunity to discuss the site selection process and provide feedback which could help shape the projects going forward.
These projects will play a key role in Scotland and the UK’s net zero targets, generating cleaner, home-grown electricity and providing energy security for future generations.
David Robertson, Portfolio Director at BlueFloat Energy | Nadara Partnership, said: “We are committed to early engagement with local communities and stakeholders throughout the development stages of our projects. These events are a crucial step in ensuring that the projects are developed in a way that benefits the local area and supports Scotland’s renewable energy goals.”
The consultation for the Broadshore Hub includes in-person events which will be held on the following dates, while a virtual consultation will run from Tuesday 26th November to Wednesday 4th December (inclusive) and can be accessed here.

The Broadshore Offshore Wind Farm was awarded rights by Crown Estate Scotland under the ScotWind leasing round which could see a total of up to 30.4 GW of offshore wind capacity deployed in Scottish waters, significantly contributing towards Scotland’s net zero targets. As innovation projects, Sinclair and Scaraben were successful in the INTOG (Innovation and Targeted Oil & Gas) leasing round, aimed at attracting investment in innovative offshore wind projects in Scottish waters, as well as helping decarbonise North Sea operations.
More information about the Broadshore Hub, including the consultation events, is available on Broadshore’s website.
